2026 NEBRA Board of Directors Candidate Statements

Alan Atwood Statement

Most of you will recognize my name in some form or fashion. I’m a Race Director, Regional level Official, Results Technician, Registration Specialist, Technical Director…………..but most importantly, I’m a huge fan of the sport of competitive cycling. I’ve been involved in the sport since 1988, when my college roommate decided to embark on a charity trek from St. Albans, VT to Portland, ME, and wanted some support following him. This dominoed to supporting his races, then running a race team, then scoring our club’s local criterium series……and the journey began in earnest. In over 30+ years in the sport I have involved in one element or another, and I’ve seen a lot and experienced even more.
Since I joined the NEBRA Board of Directors 4 years ago, I have continued to see this as a great opportunity to do something else to help the community that has given me so much joy and a great bunch of memories over the years. I’ve been happy to lend my wealth and depth of experience to an organization that only wants the best for New England cycling and cyclists. There continue to be lots of challenges ahead, including resuscitating road racing from the floor that it currently lives on, and finding ways to get more people into this competitive sport. Navigating through this will take a lot of good minds with good heads working together to clear a path through the fog and hopefully return New England competitive cycling to a healthy state. I relish the challenge to help create that path. There are a lot of great competitors in New England, good people who want to see the return of a healthy racing scene that is inviting and full of dynamic energy. And that would be my primary goal in any continuing time served with the board of NEBRA.
I hope that the competitive cycling community of New England would support me in continuing to serve on the Board of Directors for the New England Bicycle Racing Association. If you will give me your vote for the 2026-2028 term, I will do my best in working with this talented group of people in helping to continue New England’s pride in being the best region in the country to compete in this great sport of cycling.

Jane Vigneau Statement

Hi Folks!

I’m Jane Vigneau and I am interested in joining the NEBRA board so that I can support the New England bike racing scene. I love bikes and I love riding and racing bikes! I grew up bike commuting with my dad through the not-so-bike-friendly streets of Worcester, MA, then lived in Winter Park, CO for five years where I learned to mountain bike, and currently live in Williston, VT where I dedicate most of my free time to training and competing in as many bike races as possible. Half the battle is just showing up! In 2023, I joined the Signature Cycle Women’s Racing Team based out of CT and have had a blast getting to train and race with a team. I primarily race road, but also love cyclocross, gravel, and mountain biking. As we all have seen, there is an opportunity (especially in road racing) for more participation (especially women and gender diverse) as numbers have declined in recent years. So I’m interested in being a part of a group whose mission is to do just that: get more people racing bikes! What I bring to the table:
1) Professionally I have been working in people operations for 10 years, currently as an HR Business Partner at City Market Onion River Co-op in Burlington, VT.
2) I have immersed myself in the New England bike racing scene (primarily road) and have progressed from a Cat 5 to a Cat 2 over the past few years.
3) I am a mom to an 18-month old and know that it’s possible to have a family AND race bikes.
4) I’m curious to learn more, work alongside other passionate bike folks, and forge a path forward for the future of bike racing.

Lee Jarm Statement

Hello all, my name is Lee Jarm and I am interested in one of the NEBRA Board of Directors openings. While relatively new to bike racing, bikes/ cycling has always been a part of my life since I learned to ride when I was a kid. Every time I ride my bike, I feel that sense of freedom, independence, and joy I did when I first figured out how to ride when I was 4-5 years old…on a 20-inch blue Montgomery Ward’s department store bike I got for my birthday.

I love the rush I get while racing, too. While not usually where I’d like to be in a peloton, in my mind, there’s nothing like being in the pack and the sound of a peloton blasting by the start/ finish line (or anywhere else for that matter). In the past I was more of a recreational rider, but when my son, Charles, started competing in MTB racing in the NEYC league and then evolving into the road racer he is now I became increasingly involved in the bike racing community. I suspect many of you may know him or have seen him race.

As Charles continued to race, I started getting more involved in racing by participating in races as well as serving on the board of NEYC and volunteering as a parent on Charles’ MTB team, the Wild Ones, which became the Dover Demons. I am currently involved with his road team (New England Development) and I am entering my 3rd year as a USAC official. In addition to being an on the ground official, I just received my moto referee certification last summer. I am often the USAC official or RD at the Wells ave training crits and participate in or am on the officiating crew at races of various disciplines (usually road or cross) throughout the year.

I love the sport of bike racing and the NEBRA mission to advance, develop, and support the bike racing community and would love to see the number of bike racers grow. It would be an honor to contribute to NEBRA’s efforts to make that happen. Please vote for me!
